How to order repeat prescriptions online

The repeat prescription service is used for medication that you need to take on a regular basis. They can be requested in person, by post, online, via a phone app or through your local pharmacy. Due to human error which may occur whilst recording medication details, prescription requests are not accepted over the phone. This is unless you have a disability, long-term chronic illness or are unable to use online services.

Please note: all repeat prescription requests take up to 48 working hours to be processed. You will need to consider surgery opening times, weekends and public holidays when making your requests.

How to make a request

Online
The quickest and easiest way to order a repeat prescription is through two online services available to patients.

NHS online services or Patient Access allows you to access your prescription service anywhere, anytime, wherever you can connect to the internet. Both services are quick, easy and convenient to use from a smartphone, tablet or computer, and can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

NHS app or website
When registering for the first time, checks will be carried out to confirm your identity. Your information will then be securely connected to the information from your GP surgery. To keep your access secure, a security code will be sent to your phone each time you use the app or website.

Once registered, you can order a repeat prescription by logging into your account.

If you’re asked to nominate a pharmacy, you can only nominate a high street pharmacy. You’ll be able to collect your medicine in person when it’s ready. Some high street pharmacies also deliver. For more information, please visit the website here.

Patient Access app or website
To order your repeat medication through Patient Access you’ll need to first link your account to the practice. Just ask or email reception on swlccg.brigstockfamilypractice@nhs.net for your unique credentials and follow the instructions here.
